At the Acoustics Group we believe in working on cutting edge applied research. This is driven by new legislation, standards, techniques or equipment. We are in a 3* Architectural School in terms of research according to the REF2021 (Rated 19th out of 157 UK Universities in terms of Research Power). Times Higher Entrepreneurial University 2017. For 2021/22 400 pairs of Happy Ears have been purchased for every new Royal Academy of Music student. For the 15th year the students will be visiting the Acoustics Laboratory from mid September where there ears will be sized and given (for free) appropriate hearing protection. Happy Ears were specifically designed as musician hearing protection.
