On the 26th July 2012, the KayPentax ambulatory phonation monitor arrived from the USA. It will be used by Nick Durup as part of his PhD study on, "an investigation into the effect of acoustics on vocal strain of teachers". Nick is not the hand model though!

I like how quietly groundbreaking this feels—just a monitor arriving, but it opens a whole window into how teachers actually experience vocal strain day to day. It even made me pause and look up what does ambulatory mean, since the idea of tracking real-life use rather than lab moments is kind of fascinating.
