ACCEPTED ABSTRACT ON ACOUSTIC ANALYSIS OF SOUND TRANSMISSION USING STATISTICAL ENERGY ANALYSIS

The review panel of Inter-Noise conference to be held in Madrid in June 2019, has accepted the abstract of a paper entitled “ Acoustical Analysis of sound transmission in a mixed-used development using statistical energy analysis (SEA)”The paper has been written by LSBU MSc student Juan Luis Rioperez Rodriguez  and Dr Luis Gomez-Agustina. It presents an investigation into the suitability of SEA as a design aid in the construction process of developments containing noise-sensitive spaces. The always tricky structure-borne flanking sound transmission between non adjacent spaces is also considered. We hope to see you at the conference and enjoy the paper.

Validation research on the acoustics of louvres to be presented at Inter-noise 2019

The validation of acoustic directivity of ventilation louvres has been the focus of a recent MSc project . The research work was conducted by Jack Traveller and supervised by Dr Luis Gomez-Agustina. The findings have already attracted attention of the industry concerned and are likely to trigger the revision of relevant values provided in the latest CIBSE guide B4.  The abstract of article on that work has been accepted for the forthcoming Inter-Noise conference to be held in Madrid in June 2019. We hope to see you at the presentation in Madrid and find the findings useful.

External Examiner for Alan Taylor Doctoral Defence

On the 11th January 2019 Dr Stephen Dance acted as external examiner for PhD candidate Alan Taylor at Salford University. Alongside Dr Phil Duncan Alan defenced his work entitled, "The effects of centrifugal blowers, control valves, attenuating devices and reservoir resonance on organ pipe flutter". Congratulations Dr Taylor, very well deserved!
