Two late abstracts submitted to Inter-Noise 22

Two late submissions were received by Inter-Noise 2022, a conference to be held in Glasgow this summer. Eric Ballestero on, "Equalivent surface impedences of acoustic metamaterials in 3D FDTD models" and Diego Cordes on "Simulation of line arrays on underground stations from improved speech intelligbiliity". This makes a told of 16 abstracts from the Acoustics Group. We believe there are 970 abstracts, making LSBU 2% of worldwide acoustic output!

Acoustics Performance Testing of Facemasks

On the 11th February 2022 the Masters' students undertook acoustic performance testing of facemasks. Four talkers, measuring the effect on speech directivity and speech power level of three masks. This was followed by word score tests, two talkers, 3 masks, and 8 listeners. Many thanks to you all. The results will be presented at Inter-Noise 2022.

Acoustic Testing of High-end Audio

On the 11th February 2022 Audio-3.com came to the Acoustics laboratory to undertake acoustic tests of a prototype high end loudspeaker system. Dr Brad Backus underook tests to establish the loudspekaer response, flat from 100-20000 Hz +/- 2 dB. Brad talked to the students about audio acoustics. Good work Brad!

Field Trip to Henry Wood Hall

On the 10th February 2022 Masters's students undertook a joint field trip with the Architectural Association School of Architecture to an old friend of acoustics, Henry Wood Hall. A tour of the venue and measrements of the room acoustics were undertaken by the students. We hope  our long history of working together continues.

Masters Students Graduate Class of 2021

On the 23rd January 2022, Masters students from the Class of 2021 attended graduation at the Royal Festival Hall. These were the Lockdown class where lectures started at 2am for those in the America, so I knew they were a determined bunch! Well done all!!!!

Master Students Graduation Class of 2020

On the 23rd January 2022 the MSc in Environmental and Architectural Acoustics graduated at the Royal Festival Hall. A double graduation ceremony was held where Prof Stephen Dance tried ot persuade the students to come in Inter-Noise 21-25 Augut 2022 in Glasgow. Well Sam, Kim, Angela, Michael, (Stephen, Dean and Paula). There's an invitation worth discussing!
