Success at IOA Awards Lunch at the Oval

The Long Room at the Oval cricket ground were the hosts for the first Institute of Acoustics awards luncheon. The event held on the 19th April 2023 recognised the COVID backlog of recepiants. Professor Stephen Dance was there as a chair of a standing committee and to read the citation for our former LSBU PhD student Eric Ballestero who received the IOA Young Person's Innovation in Acoustical Engineering award 2021. Unfortunately Eric could not make it, so Steve was drinking for two! Well done for Eric and his Metamaterial based sound diffusers.

Antonella Bevilacqua of the Simulation and Modellig Group came to the lab to undertaken impedance tube measurement of small scale fabrics. Things got off to a rocky start with Professor Stephen Dance having to supply a very large wrench to open the impedance tube to undertaken the absorption and transmission tests!
