On the 6th February 2013, MSc student Shane Sugrue was award
the Newman medal from the Acoustical Society of America. His dissertation was
entitled, "Singing and Space : A
comparative study of choral singers and perceptions of auditorium acoustics in
three venue types". The Bradford Newman medal is awarded for excellence in
the study of acoustics and its application in architecture. I know Shane had to fly round the world to
get the data, and I learnt that Chinese balloons are not so robust!
