On the 29th March 2022 the Journal of Building and Environment published a paper by PhD candidate Rodrigo Sanchez-Pizani entitled, "Hybrid flexible seminar delivery - a technical overview of the implementation". The paper covers room acoustics and electroacoustics as related to lecture rooms. The paper is available for free for 50 days. Well done Rodrigo!

Callux returns to the Lab
Callux returned with his Youtubers to the acoustics lab on 25th March 2022. This was the 3rd anniversary of the filming of the amazingly successful, "Staying in the Quietest Room in the World Until I went Crazy" video. He stayed all afternoon, so stay tuned to what we see what happened this time!

Fifteen abstracts accepted for Inter-Noise
Fifteen abstracts submitted to Internoise 2022 have been recently accepted by the conference reviewer’s panel. The abstract topics are highly diverse covering: hearing assessment, sustainable absorptive materials, room diffusion, face masks, theQuietProject, speech mouth simulators, outdoor subwoofer system design, indoor audience platforms, acoustics panel parametric design, ventilation ducts, speech intellibility of lifeboat helmets and light well acoustics. The papers have been written or co-written by academic staff and LSBU students on MSc, PhD and IOA Diploma acoustics courses. It is confirmed that the international congress will take place in-person with some contributions online between 21 and 24 Augusts 2022. We hope to see you at the conference!

Acoustic Camera Demonstration
On Friday 4th March 2022 John Campbell of Campbell Associates gave a Masterclass to the MSc students on the acoustic camera (Nor848) and the sound intensity probe (Nor150). He used our enclosure experiment to demonstrate the advantages of the two new techniques. So that was perfectly timed!

The Second LSBU Architectural Association School of Architecture Event
On the 17th February 2022 former student and lecturer at Architectural Association School of Architecture Laura de Azcarate and Professor Stephen Dance welcomed their students to the Acoustics Laboratory of LSBU. The students saw demonstrations of sound insulation, reverberation, room modes and absolute quiet. Next week we are on-line for the "Architectural and Acoustic" event!

LSBU Annual Review 2020-21
In the London South Bank University 2020/21 review acoustic got to key mentions - both about past colleagues. First, Dr Bob Peters contribution to the Acoustics Group was recognised by the Institute of Acoustics through a new education award, proposed by Dr Luis Gomez-Agustina. Second, Emertius Professor Bridget Shield and the recognition she received for her contribution to Women in Engineering. A good year all round!
