Validation of BA/BSc(hons) in Sound Design

On the 23rd January 2015 Dr Stephen Dance, Dr Carl James-Reynolds (Middlesex University) and Dr Simon Zagorski-Thomas (London College of Music) validated two new courses at London South Bank University - BA (hons) Digital Design and BA/BSc(hons) Sound Design. We all hope the new students enjoy these exciting courses!

Steve voted on to the IOA Membership Committee

On 22nd January 2015 Dr Stephen Dance was unanamiously voted on to the Institute of Acoustics Membership Committee. Meeting are held every quarter on a Thursday... which might prove tricky!

AKQ Seminar on Functional Art and Design


On the 22nd January 2015 Dr Stephen Dance and Gavin Quinn gave presentations for AKQ Design. The acoustic panels, or art pieces were introduced by Gavin, after which Steve gave a presentation on room acoustics and the effective placement of said panels. The event was hosted by Idealworks in Great Portland Street, London, where Anne's designs can be seen in their showrooms.

Seminar on Bespoke Acoustic Panels

On the 22nd January 2015 former Masters student, Anne Kyyro Quinn will host  a seminar on the acoustics of bespoke panels to be given by Dr Stephen Dance. The talk is entitled, "Functional Art: Acoustics and Design" and will be hosted by IdealWorks at 206 Great Portland Street. Drinks at 6pm!

The Royal College Of Art Visit

Mike Wyeld and colleagues from the Royal College of Art visited the Acoustics Group on the 16th January 2015. Mike runs the Sound Studio and wanted this postgraduate students to experience and record in our anechoic chamber. Discussions were held as to a possible collaboration for project work and workshops, whilst the students recorded an orange and a mushroom being peeled!

Seminar on Acoustics given to University of the Arts, London

Spatial Design Students from the University of the Arts, London enjoyed an inpirational seminar by LSBU MSc Acoustics student Eric Bustamante and project supervisor Dr Gomez-Agustina. The session was very well reveived and will influence the students design projects

Project with the University of the Arts London

A collaborative project has been set up with the University of Arts London to improve the acoustic conditions of the Digital Space on their Elephant and Castle campus. The acoustic refurbishment will only use  sustainable materials and processes. Dr Luis Gomez-Agustina and MSc student Eric Bustamante of LSBU will provide the acoustic consultancy to the project. We look forward to working with our neighbours !
