IOA Measurement Group Meeting at LSBU

On the 25th June 2014 London South Bank University will host an Institute of Acoustics one day event. The seminar is organised by the Measurement Group with assistance from the Health and Safety Laboratory and is on the topic of Noise Labeling. This should info us on this important topic!

NUT Acoustics Survey goes live

On the 17th January 2014 PhD student Nick Durup's NUT Acoustics Survey went live. The survey targets UK teachers and requests their opinions of their classroom environment. You can find the survey here and more information  here

New Micro-Perforated Panels Tested

On the 13th January 2014 Rob Toulson from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge visited the Acoustics laboratory. Dr Toulson wanted a new Class C micro-perforated absorber tested as part of a EU Framework 7 project. We also had the chance to use our new Microflown impedance gun!

NPL visit the Acoustics Group

On the 7th January 2014 the Acoustics team of National Physics Laboratory visited London South Bank University. Discussions were held with the Acoustics and Ionizing Radiation Division, on of the 5 technical divisions, on potential projects for future collaboration. Watch this space!

Brad to give IOA Branch Presentation

The Acoustics Group has grown significantly over the years - here's the 2014 structure. A lot is happening in 2014 - we hope to keep you all informed to all our upcoming activities! Let's see if we can bet the 100 post of 2013!

London School of Economics Project Completed

The Acoustics Group is happy to announce that Szabolc Vagvolgyi, was conferred with a 1st class degree from the London School of Economics in December 2013.  His thesis, "Residents' willingness to pay for aircraft noise reduction - the case for London City Airport" formed part of his degree in Environmental Policy. Dr Dance suggested the idea of implementing a scheme where runways could be built and the residents paid in shares based on the noise exceeding the statutory noise contours. Let's see what happens!
