Luis Gomez wins Institute of Acoustics Award
Acoustics team win Enterprise Award
On the 7th March 2013 the Acoustics Group where awarded the London South Bank University Vice Chancellor's Enterprise award for most innovative team project. The team members were Ben Dymock, Richard White, Lorenzo Morales, and Stephen Dance. The prize will be used to fund an away day to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research in July 2013.

Interns from Politecnico di Torino
On the 4th March 2013 two Masters students from the Politecnico di Torino came to study with the Acoustics Group. Daniela Falzone will be working with the Royal Academy of Music project specialising in vocal stress. Elena Vercellone is working on the schools project again on vocal stress. Let's hope they enjoy the next 3 months!

Buy Quiet Workshop
On the 5th March 2013 post-doctorate research fellows Dr Luis Gomez and Dr Catrina Marques attended the Institute of Acoustics Buy Quiet workshop hosted by Nottingham University. I think it must of been good as they kept talking about it!

Adande's quiet refrigerator tested
On the 4th March 2013 Adande bought their new draw loading refrigerator to the acoustics lab. The refrigerator has noise and vibration reducing technology, the effectiveness of which was tested in the anechoic chamber. The results will be reported at www.icsv2013.org. The researchers are looking forward to Thailand.

Music and Speech Listening Levels on the Tube
On the 28th February 2013 Applied Acoustics published a paper based on MSc student Phil Wash's thesis, MP3 listening levels on London Underground for music and speech.Phil now works for Applied Acoustics Design.
Musical Acoustics Group Meeting
On the 2nd July 2013 the Institute of Acoustics Musical Acoustics Group will host a one day meeting at Friends House opposite St Panacea's station. Dr Dance will be presenting a paper on our work with conservatoires and MSc student Shane Sugrue will present his thesis on choral singing and space. Looking forward to the summer event.
