Telent attend Scholarship Thank You

On 22nd January 2010 Telent attended the 1st London South Bank University Scholarship Award event. Sal Murano and Steve Dance setup the scheme as part of an on-going partnership between the organisations to support further research activities. The Scholarship will again run in 2010/11 for acoustics, radio communications or CCTV systems.

Telent KTP - Final Meeting

The 3 year Knowledge Transfer Partnership between the Acoustics Group and Telent Technical Services has been completed. The joint research involved improving the Public Address System of London Underground. The associate was Louis Gomez, who is now a PhD student suffering from writing his research up! The project was a great success. Thanks to all the partners support.

The Royal Academy of Music - Noise Team

The Noise Team at the Royal Academy of Music meet on the 20th January 2010. They have been tasked to produce a report to implement the solutions studied. The team includes the Registrar, the Concert Organizers, the Student President and LSBU Acoustics Group. We hope the senior management team like what they read!

Knowledge Connect agreed with Anne Kyyro Quinn

On Monday 18th January, the Acoustics Group and the Product Designers agreed to support a new Knowledge Connect application with Anne Kyyro Quinn. A new type of acoustic absorber will be designed, prototyped and tested which will be highly decorative.

SoundBadge now undergoing testing


The SoundBadge, a personal dosimeter produced specifically for the music and entertainment mark is now undergoing testing in the Acoustics laboratory. This noise badge will be cheap, easy to use and robust. The SoundBadge can be purchased through Audio3

On 8th January 2010 three people from Anne Kyyro Quinn visited the acoustics laboratory to discuss research on 3D textiles. Many ideas were shared on a wide variety of subjects!

Last minute addition 5th abstract submitted for IoA/Belgium Conference

Thanks to an extended deadline, a 5th abstract has been submitted to the joint Anglo/Flemish acoustics conference to be held in Ghent on 29/30th April 2010. The paper will be on urban wind turbine installations. There should be a good attendance with 15 members of the Acoustics Group visiting our European cousins!
