Noise Abatement Awards 2024

 

The Noise Abatement Society annual John Connell Awards were hosted by Lord Balfe and held at the Palace of Westminster on 16th October 2024. The contribution of London South Bank University was recognised in dispatches for, "A Soundscape intervention for a Police Communication roon" the work was led by Peter Rogers of Sustainable Acoustics with the full collaboration of Thames Valley Police. A very interdiscplinary piece of research around comms, room acoustics, behavioural science and psychology was recognised with the Innovation award. Finally, a great evening was held by all with many thanks once again to Gloria Elliott and Dr Lisa Lavia.    

Abstract submitted to ICA Meeting New Orleans

 

An abstract has been submitted to the International Congress on Acoustics organised by the Acoutstical Society of America. The meeting will be held in New Orleans 18-23 May 2025. The paper is on "Refurbishment of a Choir Rehearsal Room" and is based on Masters student Vincent Tham Jee Sheng research results, 

Welcome to the Student cohort 24/25

 

The Acoustics Group welcomed the new cohort of students to the laboratory this week. Masters and Institute of Acoustics Diploma students will study together to learn the mysteries of acoustics! We hope you all enjoy the experience and work as a team!

First Ever Autumn Acoustics Short Course Starts

 

A cohort of five candidates for the Institute of Acoustics Certificate of Competence in Noise Measurement start at London South Bank University, 23rd September 2024\. This is the first time the Acoustics Group team have run the Autumn option for CCENM. We all hope they enjoyed the course lead by DR Luis Gomez Agustina. We will next run the short course in May 2025!
