Professor Stephen Dance to present to the AES
The Audio Engineering Society (Scotland) has organised a Sound Exposure and Hearing evening meeting to be held at the City of Glasgow College, Glasgow on the 1st October 2019. Three speakers have been invited: Chris Steel from the Health and Safety Executive, Professor Stephen Dance from London South Bank University, and Jono Heale from ACS. King Khalid University visit the Acoustic Lab
The Acoustics Group part hosted a visit from a delegation from King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia. The twenty delegates were interested in experiencing the only large anechoic chamber in London. Many thanks go to Dr Amer Ali for initiating the meeting.

New conditioning amplifier purchased
A new B&K Nexus conditioning amplifier has been purchased by the Acoustics Group. The team will use the two channel microphone amplifier Type 2691 to undertake binaural measurements and for physical scale modelling projects.
Paper published in Applied Physics Letters
We are delighted to announce a paper on "Experimental validation of deep-subwavelength diffusion by acoustic metadiffusers," has been published online today, 08-20-2019, in Applied Physics Letters (Vol.115, Issue 8). The paper details a collaboration with University of Le Mans on a new type of thin acoustic diffuser. The research was undertaken by PhD candidate Eric Ballestero and was funded by the Royal Opera House and the EU Cost project DEnorms. The paper can be found here until early September 2019.

IOA Musical Acoustics meeting at Henry Wood Hall
The programme for the annual Institute of Acoustics Musical Acoustics Group has been produced by Prof Stephen Dance on Music, Recording and Performance. At this year's meeting we have a big turn out by London South Bank University with PhD candidate Doug Shearer talking about the acoustic treatment of the hall, Dr Gomez on new room acoustic sound signals and Prof Dance on sound exposure of the Choristers of St Paul's!
